About Us

Mission

Elm Grove School for Lifelong Learning (EGS4LL) is a self-supporting non-profit organization that is dedicated to enriching the lives of others by providing learning opportunities designed to promote adult education, conversation, and social interaction in a safe and welcoming environment. EGS4LL is sponsored by COMMUNITY United Methodist Church (CUMC) in Elm Grove, WI as a broad and inclusive outreach to the public.

Classes

Our school specializes in interesting, informative, and enjoyable non-credit Adult Enrichment Classes. Since opening our doors in 2017, we have offered nearly 300 classes covering a wide variety of topics including:

  • Art Appreciation

  • Musical Masterpieces

  • Writing and Literature

  • Health and Fitness

  • Culinary Delights

  • Gardening Ideas

  • Wisconsin Sports

  • Travel Adventures

  • Arts and Crafts

  • World Religions

  • Retirement Living

  • Estate Planning

  • Wisconsin Stories

  • Historic Events

  • Current Issues

  • Nature’s Wonders

  • Scientific Discoveries

  • Evolving Technologies

EGS4LL classes are taught by outside professionals who are passionate about their subjects and eager to share their knowledge and experiences with other lifelong learners.

Classes are typically scheduled to meet just one time, for 1-2 hours on Mondays or Tuesdays during the first six weeks of October and November. Classes start at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., or 1:30 p.m.

Location

EGS4LL is conveniently located just one mile east of Brookfield Square Shopping Center, at COMMUNITY United Methodist Church, 14700 Watertown Plank Road, Elm Grove WI 53122. Parking is abundant and free in the large church lot off Watertown Plank Road. Classes are held in Fellowship Hall on the ground level which has direct entry from the parking lot. The hall is fully accessible and accommodates socially-distanced seating.

Pricing

Our school is committed to making Lifelong Learning exciting, entertaining, enriching, and very affordable. So, our school offers a very unique two-tiered pricing structure: $10/Class or $65/Term for Unlimited Classes (i.e. for all the classes that you want to take and can fit into your personal schedule).

Catalogs & Registration

EGS4LL Catalogs are published six weeks prior to the start of each term. Included in them are multiple Registration Forms to encourage readers to “spread the word” and get their friends/family to come along and “Enjoy Spending an Hour or Two Learning Something New!”

Catalogs are mailed to those who have opted to be on our mailing list and are always downloadable on this website. They can also be picked up at COMMUNITY United Methodist Church. Additionally, catalogs may be found at local libraries, senior centers, and some businesses/organizations around town.

Walk-Ins

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. However, walk-ins are always welcome.  Pre-registration ensures that we have set up enough seats and printed enough handouts for all attending lifelong learners. Since we do not take credit cards, walk-ins need to be prepared to pay with cash or check (unless you are already enrolled on our Per-Term rate for unlimited classes).
